Did you know that numbness and tingling down the arms and fingers can often be caused by restrictions around the area of the collar bone or neck 🤯

Paresthesia (posh medical term for these symptoms), whilst normally manifesting its symptoms in the upper limbs, is more often than not coming from impingement further up the chain in the side neck or the corner of the pectoral area.

This is because the innervation for the upper limbs starts in a nerve complex called the Brachial Plexus that forms in this area, before stemming down to the fingers.

In an Advanced Clinical Massage treatment plan for Paresthesia I would work through all of these potential entrapment sites, along with the carpal tunnel, so see if we could ease your symptoms. I would also teach you a range of self-care techniques to improve space in these areas and create more of a sense of slide and glide for the neural pathways.

The acupressure point Kidney 1 is a wonderfully ca

The acupressure point Kidney 1 is a wonderfully calming point that I often use to start or finish a Clinical Massage Therapy treatment.

KI 1 is found a third of the way down the sole of the foot in the natural dip that occurs when you screw up your toes and point your foot away from you.

Gently stimulating this point with your thumb for around a minute can help to clear trapped heat (fire) in the body and ground you energetically speaking. It’s also a great acupressure point if you feel deficient in Yin (your vital energy) that is said to be stored in your Kidneys. Nourishing Kidney points, such as KI1, may also help with lower back pain, as the Kidneys rule over the lower back.

Try this relaxing and cleansing point whilst seated either on a chair or the floor, one foot at a time. And don’t forget to drop into some lovely soft but full 360° breaths as you do so to really help to relax your nervous system.

The shoulder complex is, well, it’s just that…it’s complex!

Made up of the sternoclavicular (breastbone and collarbone), acromioclavicular (the corner of the collarbone and armpit), and scapulothoracic joints (the shoulder blades and back ribs), and glenohumeral joint (the ball and socket joint of the arm).

With all of these joints and their attached muscles pushing and pulling on each other all day to create the multiple ranges of movement available to us in the upper body; It’s no wonder so many of us suffer with aches and pains in the shoulders and surrounding tissues!

That is why in my Advanced Clinical Massage treatment plans, I don’t only treat the direct area of perceived pain. By using sound clinical reasoning to treat all of the soft tissue structures around each of the joints of the shoulder complex, we can help to restore sustainable harmony back to the area.

It’s so important when working with neck and sho

It’s so important when working with neck and shoulder issues to consider the whole myofascial system that stems out from the area of pain.

If you continually work only on the assumed area of pain you’re inevitably setting yourself up for the pain returning at a later date. Instead, we need to consider all of the soft tissue structures above and below the affected joint. And work with creating continuity of communication and flow between these structures and your nervous system; so that they support, as opposed to restrict each other.

You are not a sum of your parts, but are a beautiful interconnected vibrating matrix of life force, regeneration, & consciousness. And our time spent together in treatments honours that ability for us to unlock that power within you.

This year’s accomplishment; graduating as an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist with flying colours 👩🏻‍⚕️ 🤓

Just over 2 years ago I published my first book - In my element 📖, and in just over 2 years from now I’m hoping to graduate with the highest existing qualification in the UK in clinical massage 💆‍♀️

Why do I put myself through all this? Because I aspire to be the best practitioner and educator that I can for my clients. Because the more you know, the more you realise that you don’t know, and there is still to know, always. And because life, for all of us, is always work in progress!

Excited to see where the journey will take me. Eternally a humble student of those I work with and of life 🙏❤️

Rehab your body and mind with my mindful movement and bodyworks class called; Restore, Relieve & Breathe.

This new in-person class is starting Thursday 13th October at 6 pm (Seacourt Tennis club). The same class is live online on a Wednesday evening (including a free video recording with your booking!).

Restore - the body and mind through the long-held and supported stretches of Yin yoga and Restorative yoga.

Relieve - niggling or chronic pain by learning self-massage and mobility-increasing techniques; such as myofascial release and neuromuscular facilitation borrowed from physiotherapy.

Breathe - deeply into the subtler energetic layers of the body with mindful breath work, to unravel stress and anxiety felt on a physical, emotional and mental level.

Suitable for all body types and fitness levels, including those interested in rehabbing injuries, reducing their chronic pain or improving their mental wellbeing. I believe wholeheartedly that with the right education we can all find ways to manage and reduce pain and create more ease in our bodies and minds.

Each week's class will have a different focus e.g understanding sciatica, easing chronic neck pain, mobilising the lower back, using the breath to calm the nervous system etc. My hope is that by attending these classes, be it regularly, or by dropping in from time to time, you will learn some invaluable techniques for your self-care tool kit, which will allow you to fine-tune your health.

Graduation day 👩🏽‍🎓 I can now officiall

Graduation day 👩🏽‍🎓 I can now officially call myself an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist (ACMT) 🙌🥂

This past year has been the most incredible journey for me in which I’ve met so many inspirational people, made new friends for life, and grown tenfold into a competent and confident massage therapist.

It hasn’t by any means been easy, but the outstanding standard of the teaching on this course and the passion for making a difference in the world has been an inspiration.

I now feel fully armed to help people tackle their chronic pain pathologies and sporting injuries (I also picked up a Sports Massage level 4 qualification for good measure 😊) and I can’t wait to share all my knowledge with my clients and begin to make a real difference to their lives ❤️

This is by no means the end, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter, as I will always be a humble student of my profession and life.

Thank you to all of the Jing family for your love and wisdom. I miss you already. Until the next time…
